Efforts to Address Vaccine Hesitancy in Marin

When the COVID 19 vaccine rolled out, Marin County Public Health epidemiologists sought to understand our community’s concerns through a county-wide survey. This revealed meaningful differences in vaccine beliefs between communities and helped guide our outreach and messaging. This week, these efforts were published in the peer-reviewed journal Cureus.

Reducing Risk of Long COVID with Vaccination and Treatment

Two recent studies reinforce the importance of vaccines and acute treatment for reducing Long COVID risk. A systematic review of 41 studies, involving over 860,00 individuals, found that vaccination was associated with a 43% reduction of Long Covid.  A Veterans Affairs study that followed nearly 300,000 COVID-infected individuals found that a 5-day course of Paxlovid reduced risk of Long COVID by 26%.
