Travel COVID-19 Safe!

Heading to or from a trip (hopefully somewhere fabulous)? The BA.5 variant of Omicron is fueling high rates of transmission internationally. Long lines in airports and other travel venues are further increasing travel-related risks. COVID-19 prevention strategies, like getting vaccinated, boosted when eligible, accessing testing, staying home if sick, and wearing a well-fitting mask with good filtration help protect yourself and others while traveling.

The best way to prevent infection during prolonged indoor exposures to crowds associated with travel is by upgrading your mask to an N95 or KN95 mask. Learn more about when to wear a mask.

If you’re traveling to a destination outside of California, consider following these CDPH travel guidelines [PDF].

Know your COVID-19 Community Level

The CDC’s COVID-19 Community Levels are a tool to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest data. Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area. Take precautions to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 based on the COVID-19 Community Level in Marin or other community in which you live, work or visit.
