The Marin County COVID-19 Status Update is published weekly and as needed to share important news and resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic response. We remain here for you.

Influenza on the Rise

A rise in flu cases is compounding an ongoing surge in RSV cases, straining the regional health care system. Flu virus levels in Marin County wastewater have jumped 23-fold in the past month. Today, Santa Clara announced an individual under age 65 who was unvaccinated against flu is their first influenza death this season. Flu is vaccine preventable, and most clinics are offering both flu and COVID vaccine at the same time.

Shared Risk, Shared Gratitude

Throughout the pandemic, we’ve relied on the actions of others for our health and safety. Because we share the same air, the decisions of those around us to vaccinate, mask, test, and take other steps determines our risk as individuals. So, as members of a community with comparatively low pandemic cases, hospitalizations and deaths, Marin residents can share gratitude with one another for doing their part to protect us all.

Where to get Vaccinated

In addition to local healthcare providers, clinics and pharmacies Marin County Public Health is offering vaccination clinics at two locations through December.

  • Northgate Mall Clinic:  Now until December 16, Tuesday – Friday, 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

(Northgate Mall Clinic will be closed November 24 & November 25)

  •  Kerner Clinic (3240 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael):  Thursdays: December 1 - 22, 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Visit the Vaccine Finder webpage to view other clinic hours, address, or schedule an appointment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive a vaccination. Additional vaccination clinics in Marin and around the Bay Area can be found on MyTurn.

Holiday Schedule for COVID-19 Updates

Some of our services will pause this week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Here’s an overview:

  • Data and Surveillance Webpage: no update on November 24 or 25, updates will resume on November 28.
  • Marin County Weekly COVID-19 Status Update will be back to the regular schedule and in your inbox on Friday, December 2nd.

We wish you a fantastic holiday. We are grateful to everyone doing their part to help keep our community safe.

Know your COVID-19 Community Level

The CDC’s COVID-19 Community Levels are a tool to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest data. Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area. Take precautions to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 based on the COVID-19 Community Level in Marin or other community in which you live, work or visit.
