Video: Preventing Long COVID

Ongoing research is providing insights into the causes and effects of Long COVID. Dr. Matt Willis, Marin Public Health Officer, describes recent findings of one of the largest-ever studies of Long COVID, and explains what they may mean for our community.

West Nile Virus

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who recently visited Marin, was recently hospitalized for West Nile Virus (WNV) infection. International Overdose Awareness Day:  August 31

Tomorrow, August 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day. Drug overdose is the leading cause of death among Marin residents under age 55, eclipsing cancer and heart disease.  This summer, OD Free Marin, Marin’s interagency coalition designed to combat this crisis, has added 3 Narcan vending machines to enhance access to this life-saving medicine. Narcan is a nasal spray that any bystander can use to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Since 2020, over eleven thousand Narcan kits have been dispensed at no cost to residents through strategically placed access points across Marin. Learn more about how to obtain Narcan here.
