Public Health Status Update for 10/02/2026

Marin County Public Health (MCPH) protects our community by promoting health, preventing disease, and preparing for public health emergencies.  The MCPH Public Health Status Update is released on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month to provide news and resources concerning public health priorities.

Early Childhood Fair-Marin City

Marin Public Health focuses on the Life Course Model which identifies birth to five years old as a critical time in development: Early life events are predicters of future health outcomes.  We are thrilled to announce that the first ever Marin City Growing Together: Early Childhood Fair  is taking place this Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Rocky Graham Park in Marin City. This event will feature a live performance by Jahri’s World, other fun activities for young kids, and community resources. Please RSVP.

Age Well Marin

Active Aging Week, October 5–11, is a reminder that healthy aging is about more than living longer—it’s about staying active, connected, and engaged. In Marin, our parks, trails, community centers, libraries, and local programs offer opportunities to move, learn, volunteer, and connect at every age. Celebrate by taking a walk, joining a community activity, checking in with an older neighbor, or exploring local resources through Vivalon and One Door Marin.

Fall Heat: Stay Prepared

October can still bring some of our hottest days. Before leaving home, check the forecast and fill your water bottle, even if the morning feels cool. Stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat, and check on neighbors, friends, and family members who may need extra support. A little planning can help everyone stay safe when temperatures rise.

Honoring EMS and the People Who Serve

Last week, the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride traveled through Marin, honoring EMS professionals who have died in the line of duty and recognizing those who continue to serve our communities. Riders were welcomed by fire departments throughout Marin as they continued their journey. The event is also a reminder of the strong partnership between EMS and Public Health. From everyday emergencies to disaster response and prevention, working together strengthens our emergency response system and helps keep our communities safe.
