New Statewide Rules for Visiting Healthcare Settings
Last week, California Department of Public Health issued new COVID-19 prevention rules that all visitors to hospitals and nursing homes must follow.
Visiting someone in the hospital? You must show proof of vaccination for COVID-19 OR a recent negative COVID test. (Taken within one day of visitation for antigen test, or within two days of visitation for PCR test.)
Visiting a nursing home resident? Be prepared to show proof of vaccination for COVID-19 (and proof of a booster if eligible) AND a recent negative COVID test.

Beware of Contact Tracing Scams
Whenever there is a health crisis, scammers will find ways to cheat people out of money or personal information. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, scammers are still at work. They’re stealing personal information or selling things that don’t work or should be free. People pretending they are doing contact tracing for COVID-19 may call, visit, write or email to try and get information from you.
Marin County Public Health and California Department of Public Health are calling, emailing, and writing to people who have tested positive to for COVID-19 and people who they may have been in contact with, but rest assured contact tracers will NEVER request a social security number, Medicare number, a copy of your ID, financial information, or ask for money.
If you suspect COVID-19 health care fraud, report it immediately online or call 800-HHS-TIPS (800-447-8477).
Testing Tuesday
Are you a close contact of someone who is COVID positive? Slow the spread by following Isolation and Quarantine guidance and getting a COVID-19 test 5 days after your exposure. Testing is a valuable resource to help limit the spread of the virus to in our community and protect the ones you love.
If you’re symptomatic, get tested as soon as possible, even if you’re fully vaccinated. If you are symptomatic and cannot obtain a test or testing appointment, treat your symptoms as COVID-19 and isolate.
