The Marin County COVID-19 Status Update is published weekdays and as needed to share important news and resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic and to keep the local economy running. We remain here for you.

New Vaccine Requirement for Skilled Nursing Facilities

Vaccination against COVID-19 is the most effective means of preventing infection with the COVID-19 virus, and subsequent transmission and outbreaks. Omicron has caused numerous outbreaks within one of our most vulnerable populations, Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). In an effort to protect SNF patients who are most at risk of severe outcomes from the virus, a new, local Public Health Order was issued today.

This order requires all Marin SNFs to:

  1. Enroll in the California COVID-19 Vaccination Program and have the capacity to provide vaccines to both patients in staff by February 28, 2022.
  2. By March 11, SNF administrators must attest to Marin County Public Health that the facility is in full compliance with the State Public Health Officer order, including vaccination status of staff (see order for full attestation details).
