Planning Travel? Plan Out COVID-19 Prevention Strategies
“Mid-Winter Break” (aka: Ski Week) for most Marin County schools is just around the corner. As you finalize your plans, keep COVID-19 prevention a part of your packing list:
- Get up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines. If you’re eligible but unboosted, NOW is the time to get your shot! Walk-in or schedule your vaccination appointment before demand for pre-travel vaccines increases. We anticipate demand to grow in mid-to-late February. Visit our Vaccine Finder webpage to find a clinic near you.
- Plan testing options in advance. If traveling by air, check if your airline requires testing and identify a test provider that can provide the necessary turnaround. Also, now is the time to order at-home test kits to test after you return home or test yourself if you become symptomatic during your trip.
- When in doubt, mask up. While California’s mask requirements will change next week, counties will still have the liberty to enforce indoor mask use and masks will still be required in indoor areas of public transportation (airplanes, buses, trains, etc). Health officials still strongly recommend wearing a mask over your nose and mouth until COVID-19 transmission decreases. Mask up!
- Hand sanitizer is your friend. Whether a stair handrail, lunch counter, or elevator buttons... germs are everywhere. Cleaning hands at key times with soap and water or hand sanitizer is one of the most important steps you can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to those around you.
More travel safety tips are available on CDC’s COVID-19 Travel webpage.
Testing Tuesday
Are you a close contact of someone who is COVID positive? Slow the spread by following Isolation and Quarantine guidance and getting a COVID-19 test 5 days after your exposure. Testing is a valuable resource to help limit the spread of the virus in our community and protect the ones you love.
If you’re symptomatic, get tested as soon as possible, even if you’re fully vaccinated.
FREE COVID-19 testing is offered in partnership with Optum Serve and Curative. Click the links below to check appointment availability or visit our Testing webpage to find additional testing options.
