MyTurn Adds New Feature

Free & confidential testing is available to everyone, regardless of insurance or immigration status and California’s MyTurn website just made finding a testing location easier by adding a new feature to find a testing site near you.

Using MyTurn’s new testing site locator tool, you can search by zipcode, adjusting the search radius from 0 to 200 miles, and the results will show in both list format and on a locator map. When you click on the “Learn More” of any testing site from your results, it will bring you directly to the website of that testing provider where you can schedule an appointment (if one is needed) and see if there are other requirements for the testing location you’ve chosen.

Case Rate by Vaccination Status Dashboard Updated

Our epidemiology team is rolling out new data that reinforces the importance of vaccinations AND boosters.  The “COVID-19 Cases among Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Residents” dashboard now shows case rates among those who were boosted, dating back to September 1. The dashboard shows the daily average case rate per 100,000 residents and includes all cases, regardless of symptoms. View the updated dashboard on the Data and Surveillance webpage.

Celebrate Safely: Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day, spread love, not COVID.

It's a moment during the year when we express ways of caring to the people we love whether they’re our partners, friends, or family. If you plan on celebrating the holiday, here are some COVID-safe activity ideas. Whatever way you decide to celebrate, we wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day.

  • Write a love note. When was the last time you received a handwritten note and how did it make you feel? A thoughtful note makes a lasting impression.
  • Spend quality time. Going on a hike or being around nature is a great way to avoid crowds while also strengthening the bond between you and your loved one. If indoors, choose places with less people where you can socially distance from other groups.
  • Stay in. Staying home makes it less likely for COVID to join your Valentine’s celebration and gives more flexibility to let your creativity shine. Create the ambiance with candles, favorite foods and memories you and your loved one can share.
  • Celebrate virtually. Rather than organizing a large gathering with friends or traveling to see your special someone, consider a video call instead. Quality time with others doesn’t always mean we have to physically be in the same place as them. Virtual celebrations still allow us to be creative and enjoy each other’s company.
