Do you need a Mask? Ask Yourself These Three Questions
California’s universal masking mandate lifted today and now the need for using masks indoors has changed throughout the state. People who are unvaccinated must continue to wear a face covering while in indoor public spaces and in certain indoor settings everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must mask up before entering. We acknowledge that it may take some time to get used to the newest masking guidance, so below is a visual display to help make it easier to understand.
Learn more about the current guidance for the Use of Face Masks in California by visiting the California Department of Public Health's webpage.

New Schedule for Status Updates
Beginning today, the frequency of our daily Status Updates is changing. Our new schedule will be three days a week, publishing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, except on holidays. The change in frequency will not compromise the quality of information provided. We will continue to keep our community up to date on relevant COVID-19 news and issues that are important to Marin County.
Remember, our COVID-19 Data page and Vaccine Data page are updated daily and will maintain that frequency. We invite you to visit the public information section on our homepage which will continue to be an immediate link to the latest information on topics like testing, vaccine clinics, isolation and quarantine and business resources. We appreciate your readership, especially as we enter a new chapter in our Status Update distribution.
Testing Decision Tree
Do you have COVID-19 symptoms? Were you recently exposed to someone who is positive? Depending on how you answer these questions, you may or may not need to get tested. Testing is a valuable tool to help prevent the spread of the virus in our community and knowing when to get tested is just as important. Here is a visual guide of what to do if you aren’t sure whether you should get a COVID-19 test. By starting at the top and continuing down the graphic after answering each question, a review of common symptoms and guidance is provided to help make the best decision based on your own circumstances.
Please note that this guidance is for non-school settings only. For more information on testing for schools and families, please visit our Schools page.
Visit our Isolation and Quarantine page for additional information for those who test positive or are close contacts of a person who is COVID-positive.
