Marin County COVID-19 Status Update for November 16, 2021 includes Pediatric Vaccine Appointments are Available this Week; It’s Testing Tuesday: An Overview of Testing Opportunities in Marin County; and updated local COVID-19 data.

The Marin County COVID-19 Status Update is published weekdays and as needed to share important news and resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic and to keep the local economy running. We remain here for you.

 

Pediatric Vaccine Appointments are Available this Week 

We have created additional appointments this week to meet the increased demand for COVID-19 vaccines for 5- to 11-year-olds. There are various free Marin County Public Health pediatric vaccination sites available, but space is limited, and appointments are required. Recipients of a vaccine must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please visit our Vaccine Finder page to make a reservation and to also get more information regarding proximate clinics.

If you are looking for a non-pediatric vaccination, our Vaccine Finder also provides information on vaccine clinics scheduled throughout the county. These other sites offer initial vaccine series, third doses, and booster doses. Appointments are strongly encouraged for people who are 12 and older.  

 

It’s Testing Tuesday: An Overview of Testing Opportunities in Marin County 

As we continue through the season of Fall celebrations, an important resource we have is the availability of COVID-19 testing. Getting tested before and after the holidays is an important step we can all take to keep our community protected. 

FREE Community Testing with Optum Serve/LHI and Curative is offered in partnership with Marin County Public Health and their current testing schedules are listed below:

  • West America Bank Parking Lot - 1177 E. Francisco Blvd, San Rafael (open Wednesday - Saturday, 9am to 5pm) 
  •  -  2001 Novato Blvd, Novato (open Tuesday, 9am - 5pm) 

NOTE: LHI testing locations will be clThe Square Shopping Center Parking Lotosed November 25.

Advance appointments encouraged; walk-ins available as daily testing supply allows. Book an appointment online or call (888) 702-9042.

NOTE: ALL Curative testing locations will be closed November 25 & 26.  

Travel, event, and medical procedure-related testing is not offered or guaranteed at community testing sites.

* Note that this percentage is out of all Marin residents including children younger than 12. This number was reported incorrectly in yesterday’s Status Update. The percentage of Marin population that completed their vaccine series increased to 83% yesterday, however “full immunity” will not be reached until 14 days later. 

** As population estimates may not be precise, as of October 4, 2021, the proportion of residents vaccinated with at least one dose will be displayed up to, but not higher than 98%. 

***Eligibility has been expanded from those 12+ to include pediatrics (ages 5 to 11), resulting in a percentage decrease from November 4, 2021. 

****Yesterday’s number should have been reported as 229,939.
